About Us

CENTRAL MASS SAFETY COUNCIL

Founded by Tim Cooney in 1987 with one car and two people, CMSC has grown to 45 cars and 10 veteran managers leading over 75 of New England’s best driving instructors.

CMSC has trained generations of drivers including 100,000 students and adults–and has one of only two Skidz School Programs in the state.

This means: Motorcycle, Fleet Training, Adaptive Driving and Evaluations and CMSC’s signature Student Driver’s Ed and Driving Instructor Manuals. CMSC Tractor Trailer coming soon!

Headquartered in West Boylston, we have satellite classrooms in towns such as Auburn, Westboro, and Shrewsbury and over a 100 pickup locations.

CMSC provides affordable adaptive training and independence to hundreds of other-abled drivers every year.

I had a great experience here. Very knowledgeable and patient professionals, who know how to train new drivers the right way. The student to instructor ratio really sets them apart from other driving schools. We had at least 4 instructors outside everyday and 7 students. Would highly recommend!

This was one of the best experiences of my life. Being an adult learning driver I was very nervous and anxious about not being prepared for my licensing road test exam. I went into this experience feeling ashamed and embarrassed of my age and not yet being licensed. But from the moment I got into the vehicle for my first lesson with Jen all of that changed. She instantly made me feel so comfortable and that I was doing a great job. I always had Jen & Jim for instructors and cannot thank them both enough for all their help, support & guidance. The entire staff at CMSC were amazing. From those I checked in with for my lessons on the weekends, Caitlin, etc. I would highly recommend CMSC to anyone looking for themselves or their child / family member. This is the only driving school worth attending in my opinion.

Truly, learned a lot today...Amie was very good and nice to learn from. She was always open for questions and always nice on how she made you feel about what you doing good and wrong. As a total novice...I felt good and with little more riding I'll definitely get better. Just need to ride more and more.The bikes were easy to ride and get comfortable with.

I honestly had a better time learning from CMSC than i thought. I went in today expecting a really grim and strict teacher but it wasn’t like that at all! I had my first driving lesson with Elias (sorry for the misspelling) and he was amazing. He made me feel really comfortable yet I was able to learn a lot from him which just adds into the lesson. Then I had my second lesson with Tina and she was also amazing. There were some difficult concepts for me to understand but she explained it beyond perfection. They are both wonderful people and even better instructors. Not to mention that the office workers are also extremely nice. I was talking with Cheyenne and she helped with my scheduling for future lessons and was so nice and understanding. All of these people should get a raise and a promotion without a doubt in my mind.

Jason Nutting is one of the best instructors. Super chill dude. Clear instructions. I felt like I came away from the lesson knowing more. If you call to schedule a lesson, you can request for him to be your instructor. Definitely recommend it.

My driving instructor Kevin Bell was amazing. He made it fun and exciting. He used props during class to make important points. I have only had a couple classes with him but I would love to continue working with him as I progress through driving. I highly recommend him for a driving instructor at CMSC.

Kevin Bell has displayed countless acts of kindness and he made learning about driving fun. I would highly suggest him as a driving teacher and think other people should have the same opportunity that I had to learn everything to do with driving.

Kevin was an excellent teacher who managed to engage the entire class while properly teaching the fundamentals of the road. I was so happy with the class I am also planning on requesting my further lessons with Kevin and will be specifically recommending him whenever asked. I am a student at CMSC and my experience so far has been great. I would highly recommend my driving instructor Jahile Rivera. He is very professional, extremely knowledgeable, he builds confidence in me and always encourages me. He communicates very clearly. He has different teaching techniques. Above all being a senior learner he is extremely patient with me and is sensitive and culturally aware. He is all rounded and I would highly recommend Jahile at CMSC.

If I knew from the start, I would of come to this building! My instructor is William Kant. So far he is a nice guy willing to teach everyone that is taking a driving lesson. I was struggling at my previous school and when I put my foot here I didn't regret it !

My husband had an excellent experience with CMSC DRIVING SCHOOL. The driving instructor, Jillian, was outstanding….knowledgeable, experienced, patient and supportive. The full team including the owner, Jake, the OT, Kristen, and the instructor are top notch…thorough, responsive, professional and extremely supportive.

My three children went through CMSC. They were accommodating with getting other district kids in the same classes for drivers Ed. We didn’t have any problems getting drive times. My kids would check themselves if any openings popped up. All the three had their driving test moved up due to availability & that was communicated to us. My last child had instructor Raza & said he was the best. He was very helpful & went above to ensure all went well with the test.

I recommend this school to all my friends! They are the best! And I know because I had a horrible experience at Donaghue school in Hudson. I transferred to CMSC and my only regret is that I didn’t work with them from the start! All the CMSC drivers are experienced and kind. My twins truly enjoyed the experience and have become fabulous drivers. They just passed their test and I am confident with them on the road!

Let me say, I had Mike as my Motorcycle instructor. And as hard as he was, I learned the skills required to ride. I have NEVER rode a motorcycle. I didn't know the controls on one EITHER. And today I am officially LICENSED. He makes sure you understand the safety and rules when riding, and what to expect as a rider.Thank you Mike and Matt , I will definitely be recommending my friends and family.Mike and Matt were the Instructors for this class. Thank you for all that you both do.
